‘Miracle in Motown:’ Rodgers connects with Rodgers on Hail Mary

There’s the ‘Fail Mary’ from the 2012 season between the Packers and Seahawks. Then there’s the vindication that happened on Thursday night in Detroit.

With the Lions leading 20-0 in the second half, Green Bay ripped off a furious comeback capped by a 61-yard Hail Mary from Aaron Rodgers to tight end Richard Rodgers as time expired.

The sideline in green and gold went from panic to pandemonium on a play that was an untimed down after Devin Taylor was called for a controversial facemask penalty.

Richard Rodgers is the son of Richard Rodgers Sr., who was on the field during ‘The Play’ that infamously ended the game between Cal and Stanford in 1982 after five laterals with the band on the field.

Aaron Rodgers and Richard Rodgers also both went to Cal.

With the win, the Packers moved to 8-4 and can vault into first place in the NFC North with a Vikings loss against the Seahawks on Sunday.

In the heartbreaking defeat, the Lions fell to 4-8 and are almost assuredly out of the playoff race.
