NFL Thanksgiving odds: Cowboys, Lions both betting favorites for Thursday

The line has shifted well in favor of Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys as they renew their historic NFC East rivalry with the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving Day. The NFC-leading Cowboys are 7.5-point favorites on the NFL point spreads against Washington, with a 51-point total, at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Dallas is 9-1 straight-up and 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 games as a favorite of seven points or more, while Washington is 5-0 SU and ATS in its last five games as a road underdog of 7.5 points or fewer.

Dallas is 9-1 SU and 9-0-1 ATS on the season. Prescott has proven to be a superb decision-maker and should once again get ample rushing support from Ezekiel Elliott and perhaps the NFL’s best offensive line. Washington also allows 4.6 yards per carry, second-worst in the NFL. Tight end Jason Witten also has an excellent matchup.

Washington, which is 6-3-1 SU and 7-3 ATS, will also pit a potent offense against a mid-level Dallas defense. Quarterback Kirk Cousins is benefiting from balance in the receiving corps with deep threat DeSean Jackson healthy and able to clear space for WR Pierre Garcon and WR Jamison Crowder.

The total has gone over in 13 of the Redskins’ last 15 games.

Thursday begins with an NFC North first-place showdown, as the Detroit Lions are the 2.5-point favorite against the Minnesota Vikings with a 43-point total. Matthew Stafford and the Lions, who are 6-4 SU and ATS, are the hotter team coming in but have a tough matchup against a Vikings defense that allows the second-fewest yards per pass (6.2).

The Vikings, also 6-4 SU and ATS, are trying to turn around a woeful rushing attack in order to reduce the pressure on QB Sam Bradford. Minnesota is 9-2 SU in their last 11 games as an underdog of 2.5 or fewer points. Five of the teams’ last six games have finished under.

And the likelihood of Andrew Luck (concussion protocol) being unable to play during a short week has cast the Pittsburgh Steelers as the nine-point road favorite on the moving betting line against the Indianapolis Colts. The total is 47 points.

The Steelers and Colts are each 5-5 both SU and ATS. Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger and RB Le'Veon Bell, based on form, could have a big night against a Colts defense that has the lowest interception rate in the NFL. Pittsburgh is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 November games, which seems low for a consistent playoff team.

Scott Tolzien, who hasn’t thrown a meaningful pass since 2013, is the Colts’ backup QB. The Colts have been consistently churning out yardage and the Steelers defense has yet to find a rhythm, but playing Tolzien would probably hasten using a limited playbook.

The last four Steelers-Colts games have gone over the posted total at the sportsbooks.

NFL Week 7 odds roundup: Vikings, Patriots favorites in marquee matchups

Sam Bradford had difficulty winning in Philadelphia, and the OddsShark NFL Database shows the same has long been true of the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings are listed as 2.5-point favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles for this weekend at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Vikings, who got Bradford from the Eagles after Teddy Bridgewater suffered a major knee injury, are the NFL’s last unbeaten team. They are 3-8 SU in their last 11 games against the Eagles, and 3-10 ATS in their last 13.

The Eagles are 2-6 SU and ATS in their last eight games against teams from the NFC.

Another QB, Brock Osweiler, has a return game in Week 7. The Denver Broncos are seven-point favorites against Osweiler’s Houston Texans for the Monday Night Football game. The Broncos are 7-0 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games after losing their most recent home game. The Texans are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog of 7.5 or fewer points.

The New England Patriots are favored by seven points against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Patriots are 11-1 SU in their last 12 October games. The Steelers, who are relying on QB Landry Jones after Ben Roethlisberger was injured during their Week 6 loss in Miami, are 7-1 SU in their last eight games after losing as a favorite.

According to website PredictionMachine.com, going from Roethlisberger to Landry decreases the Steelers’ chances of beating the Patriots from 40.5% to 26.3%.

The Arizona Cardinals are favored by two against the Seattle Seahawks for the Sunday Night Football matchup. The Seahawks are 7-2 SU in their last nine road games. The Cardinals are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games.

The Detroit Lions are a one-point favorite against the Washington Redskins. The Lions are 3-8 SU in their last 11 games against teams with winning records. The Redskins are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 7.

The Buffalo Bills are favored by three against the rival Miami Dolphins. The Bills are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as road favorites. The Dolphins are 2-6 SU in their last eight against teams with winning records.

On Thursday Night Football, the Green Bay Packers are 7.5-point favorites against the Chicago Bears. The Packers are 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games in Week 7. The Bears are 2-9 SU in their last 11 games against teams with winning records.

The New York Giants are favored by 2.5 points against the Los Angeles Rams entering their game in London. The Giants are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against the NFC West. The Rams are 5-2 SU and ATS in their last seven games as underdogs.

And the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a road favorite for only the second time since 2011, giving two points against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are 0-5 SU and ATS in their last five games.

NFL Week 1 odds: Panthers on TNF among favorites on opening slate

Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers have ruled the NFC South for three seasons, but covering as a road favorite has not been their forte. Heading into Thursday night’s NFL season opener between last year’s Super Bowl teams, the Panthers are listed as three-point favorites against the host Denver Broncos at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Over the last three seasons, Carolina is 9-3 straight-up but just 5-7 against the spread as a road favorite, according to the OddsShark NFL Database. However, overall they’re also 8-0 both SU and ATS in their last eight games as a favorite of three or fewer points.

Denver, which won both home games last season where it was an underdog, is 25-4 SU in its last 29 home games. The total has gone under in both the Panthers’ last four season openers and in the Broncos’ last five games following consecutive wins.

In a Sunday Night Football tilt between the 2015 AFC and NFC finalists, the Arizona Cardinals are listed as six-point favorites against the temporarily Jimmy Garoppolo-led New England Patriots. The Cardinals are 10-2 SU and 7-5 ATS in their last dozen games when favored by 6.5 or fewer points.

The Patriots are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against Arizona. The total has gone over six of the last seven times that New England was the underdog.

The New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys tilt is listed as a pick’em. The Cowboys, now counting on rookie QB Dak Prescott, are 5-1 SU in their last six September games. The Giants aren’t known for being fast starters: try an 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS trend in their last five season openers. The NFC East rivals’ last seven games have all gone over the posted total.

The Cincinnati Bengals are 2.5-point favorites on the road against the New York Jets; the Bengals have lost nine road games in a row against the Jets, but they are 6-2 SU and 8-0 ATS in their last eight away games. Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts are four-point favorites at home against Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.

With backup QB Shaun Hill starting, the Minnesota Vikings are two-point road favorites against the Tennessee Titans. According to website PredictionMachine.com, the Vikings’ projected points per game average with Hill at quarterback instead of the injured Teddy Bridgewater drops from 24.5 to 21.8. With Sam Bradford at quarterback that number is 22.1.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are favored by three points against the Washington Redskins on Monday night, with the total at 50 points. The total has gone under for bettors eight of the last 11 times the Redskins were an underdog of three or fewer points. In the other Monday night game, the Los Angeles Rams are 2.5-point favorites against the host San Francisco 49ers.

In other games of note, the Seattle Seahawks are 10.5-point favorites against the Miami Dolphins, Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints are a slim one-point favorite at home against the Oakland Raiders, and the Green Bay Packers are 4.5-point favorites on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
